My Approach
To My Patients:

My name is Dr. Bovenberg, and I am a board-certified Mohs Surgeon and Dermatologist. I have been researching and working with cancer in various capacities for over 15 years. My fascination began in medical school, continued through my Ph.D., and now, as a Mohs surgeon, I specialize in skin cancer treatment in my everyday practice.
Cancer is a word that carries strong negative connotations. While I can often reassure my patients that most skin cancers, when diagnosed early, have an excellent prognosis, I understand that this only partially alleviates their worries. Many skin cancers occur in functionally or cosmetically sensitive areas, which can significantly impact one's appearance or functional outcomes. Understandably, this is a "big deal" for many people.

My team and I recognize how overwhelming this process can be. It is our goal and privilege to alleviate those apprehensions, allowing you to focus on your healing journey instead.

This is where our expertise and the Mohs micrographic surgery technique come into play. Mohs surgery allows me to meticulously remove cancer cells while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. This technique, combined with my expertise in reconstructive surgery, helps achieve the highest cure rates and minimize scarring.

I feel very blessed to be in a profession where we can offer patients an actual cure and, in most cases, an excellent cosmetic outcome. This makes my job incredibly rewarding, and I bring that gratitude into each patient encounter.

My team understands that every patient is unique and deserves personalized care. We go out of our way to truly hear your concerns and develop an approach that fits you. Our commitment to you extends beyond the surgery. From your first consultation through your recovery, we are here to listen, support, and guide you. We utilize the latest techniques and technologies to ensure you receive the highest quality of care.

Our goal is not only to make you cancer-free, but to restore your confidence and quality of life.

Sincerely,
Dr. Bovenberg
